The following types of food are part of the diet for the fast:

  • Soups, pastas, beans, (bones can be used for soups and bean meals), vegan meat replacements, salads, fruits, shakes, rice (fried or steamed), stirred fried veggies. There are many recipes to choose from. Enjoy this time to be creative with meals. Google vegan meals for creative ideas.

DRINK ALL NATURAL DRINKS

  • Fruit or vegetable drinks. No artificial sweeteners. Drink plenty of water (alkaline water or spring water) at least a glass a hour. Try different items to your water: lemon, ginger, fruit, vegetables, garlic, and tamarind to your water daily. Try to get 9.5 or higher Alkaline Water.

FOODS TO AVOID DURING THE FAST

  • No meats, dairy, or seafood. No processed sugars.

Your physical body will heal, be cleansed, and become energetic. This fast cleanses the body, soul and spirit. An added benefit is that the Lord will be honored and will be made glad with the time we have set aside to focus on him.

Encourage one other. Check on each other during this fast. If you have questions feel free to reach out and ask (info@tfiwc.org or call 215-324-7376).

Children are exempt from this fast up to age 12. However many families choose the vegan life style from an early age.

Remember do not fast from your medications. Medications may require certain foods. If you are on medication, follow your doctor's instructions.

Be blessed, be safe, and enjoy. Happy New Year!

About the fast

SCRIPTURE PASSAGES TO FOCUS ON

Isaiah 58:6-12

English Standard Version

6      “Is not this the fast that I choose:
         to loose the bonds of wickedness,
         to undo the straps of the yoke,
     to let the oppressed go free,
         and to break every yoke?

7       Is it not to share your bread with the hungry
         and bring the homeless poor into your house;
     when you see the naked, to cover him,
         and not to hide yourself from your own flesh?

8       Then shall your light break forth like the dawn,
         and your healing shall spring up speedily;
     your righteousness shall go before you;
         the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.

9       Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer;
         you shall cry, and he will say, ‘Here I am.’
     If you take away the yoke from your midst,
         the pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness,

10      if you pour yourself out for the hungry
         and satisfy the desire of the afflicted,
     then shall your light rise in the darkness
         and your gloom be as the noonday.

11      And the Lord will guide you continually
         and satisfy your desire in scorched places
         and make your bones strong;
     and you shall be like a watered garden,
         like a spring of water,
         whose waters do not fail.

12      And your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt;
         you shall raise up the foundations of many generations;
     you shall be called the repairer of the breach,
         the restorer of streets to dwell in.

Daniel 1:8-13

English Standard Version

But Daniel resolved that he would not defile himself with the king's food, or with the wine that he drank. Therefore he asked the chief of the eunuchs to allow him not to defile himself. 9 And God gave Daniel favor and compassion in the sight of the chief of the eunuchs, 10 and the chief of the eunuchs said to Daniel, “I fear my lord the king, who assigned your food and your drink; for why should he see that you were in worse condition than the youths who are of your own age? So you would endanger my head with the king.” 11 Then Daniel said to the steward whom the chief of the eunuchs had assigned over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, 12 “Test your servants for ten days; let us be given vegetables to eat and water to drink. 13 Then let our appearance and the appearance of the youths who eat the king's food be observed by you, and deal with your servants according to what you see.”
